Intensive langauge Program
Introduction
With its long tradition of pedagogical excellence, each summer National Kaohsiung Normal University (NKNU) offers students a unique opportunity to learn Chinese language and culture. In four-week session with the support of a dedicated faculty and staff, a rigorous, well-implemented curriculum, and a speak-Chinese-only total immersion learning environment, our students make unimaginable progress. Both teachers and students work diligently as coaches and learners, respectively toward the same goal—to ensure that their students’ ability to understand, speak, read and write Mandarin Chinese improves dramatically day by day throughout the summer.
The Mandarin program in the summer camp offers students a chance to learn Mandarin in an activity-based camp. It provides a wonderful Mandarin language learning environment and lots of fun. Our experienced administration staff and qualified teachers are well-trained and they will ensure the happiness and safety of the students. The camp site is air-conditioned to keep the students cool in the hot summer. Language learning activities are in the morning and a variety of fun activities are in the afternoon. Specifically, in the morning we provide Mandarin lessons for students; their afternoon activities include: (1)culture classes, such as Chinese brush painting, Chinese calligraphy, puppet show, arts and crafts and (2) langauge in action.(3) field trips, (6) Friday's "fun day" activities and much more.
Our goal is to ensure the happiness and safety of the campers! Through our program, we encourage our campers to make new friends, co-operate while playing with other campers and try new things. We strive to make the learning process fun and exciting through our well balanced and diverse program.
Life at NKNU is guided by this goal, but not limited to it. We provide a wide range of cultural, interactive and other types of activities. Movies, Taiwanese puppet shows, and art exhibits provide numerous avenues for gaining access to the Chinese culture. Outdoor activities, such as picnics, hikes, field trips, city tours give us opportunities to relax and make acquaintances which often lead to life-long friendships. Living NKNU experience drives both the students and the faculty to discover strength and resolve previously unrealized. It also brings them a profound sense of joy and satisfaction as they taste the fruit of their effort at the end of the program.
